Workers of the world

The other day, my intern Friday and I were home working and started to get a bit fretful and snappy.  Normally I pride myself on maintaining a positive work environment so I was really disappointed with myself for letting things slide like that, and resolved to take drastic steps. Given that it was a beautiful sunny day, the natural course of action seemed to be for me to take Friday outside for a stimulating walk.

In other news from how I’m super-tapped in to the heartbeat of today’s minimum-wage workers, I hear the cleaning staff at a certain important New York city publication has been leaving coded messages regarding the true place of The Possessed in the ranks of world literature:

    That’s it. I like your voice so much I’m going to google NPR until I find someone who says your name out loud, so I can hear how to pronounce it, so I can tell people about it.

    I suspect Friday didn’t want to go out because he knew he had to tuck the two books together. And Leo liked the idea!

    We have a harness for our cats just like that. They act pretty much the same way when we try to take them out.
